17th Precinct

If you are having severe Battlestar Galactica withdrawal symptoms and miss the actors of both BSG and Caprica, then this pilot might be for you. Created by Ronald D. Moore, the man behind the BSG reboot, 17th Precinct tells the story of a San Francisco police precinct in an alternate reality where science is out and magic is in. A twist on the police procedural that might have genre fans reeling in excitment or slapping their foreheads in disdain. We think the former will come through since the show has a what might be a strong cast featuring BSG and Caprica vets Tricia Helfer, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, and Esai Morales with Kristen Kruek, Stockard Channing, Matt Long and Eamonn Walker rounding out the cast. Moore is the executive producer/creator of the pilot, which will be directed by another BSG alum Michael Rymer.

The cable network will air all 80 hours of the Ron Moore drama.

BBC America will air all 80 hours of Ron Moore’s Battlestar Galactica, including the two-part miniseries.

Battlestar Galactica will air on the cable network’s “Supernatural Saturday” lineup. The drama ran for four seasons on Syfy and starred Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park and Jamie Bamber.

The franchise debuts on BBC America on June 18 at 7 p.m. The show spawned a prequel on Syfy, Caprica, which lasted one season, and another “spinoff,” titled Blood and Chrome, is in the works. Razor and The Plan telepics also aired.

Since Galactica ended its run in 2009, much of the cast has gone on to numerous projects, with Park starring in CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 and McDonnell in TNT’s The Closer. Sackhoff has been cast in the A&E pilot Longmire, while Helfer, Bamber and Callis have joined NBC pilot 17th Precinct from Moore.
